Open Question: 1994 Ranger 3.0 spark plug wires?

I bought a 94 Ranger with the 3.0 vulcan and drove it home, the engine was shaking alot and there seemed to be a loss of power, I thought it might be misfiring because one of the spark plug wires was sparking. The guy I bought it off said it needed new wires and that would be fixed so i decided to just get new plugs too, when I replaced the plugs and wires the shaking stoped but it started kinda hard and had even less power when I drove it home it had even less power. The next day I started it and it stalled out when I put it in drive. I looked up the firing order and found the wires were out of order but Im pretty sure I put them on the exact way I took them off, so I put them right and checked over the order a dozen times but now it wont start at all. Is it possible that the wrong wires are on the wrong plugs and that could be the problem? If not what could the problem be? p.s. the plugs were Champion Coppers and the wires were Duralast 8mm Well how can it start great and run and then I switch the plugs and wires and now it doenst start at all? How can I get it started and running just enough to get it to my mechanic? more

Open Question: Boat Outboard Engine Issue?

I have a 10 month old Honda 15hp engine that has started to misbehave really badly. I have had the engine serviced a few days ago and I still have the same issue. Which they could not repeat at service. The boat starts first time when cold (every time), and for 20mins or so is a pleasure to own. It goes into gear fine. But after 10 or 15 mins it starts to run really badly and will start cutting out. You can rev the boat engine full in either direction but as soon as you put it in gear it will chug a long for 10 secs and cut out. It sounds like everything is firing on one cylinder badly. Occasionally it will spring back into life, for 3 mins as if nothing was wrong and as if something cleared. To returns to it's labouring splutter and cut out. I checked the prop, all clear. I have a water and fuel separator but could it be water in the fuel ?? HELP would be gratefully received. more

And how can I do it? College just isn't going to happen for me, I've been trying to make it happen for the past five years and I just can't. I'm not good with people, I hate children, and I hate teaching things, but I am strong and good at taking orders and following directions. I hate jobs where all I do is sit at a desk or just be sedentary. I like hands-on work. Jobs I've done in the past include: Lifeguard (hated it, just sat around all day and taught brat kids how to swim all morning) Wildland Firefighter (hated it bc they stuck me on the Engine where I sat around all day waiting for a call instead of the handcrew who got to actually do manual labor) House Painter (hated it because it was monotonous and not challenging enough) Restaurant Host (hated it because I had to fake being way social when I have a problem with social skills) Back Country Ski Patrol (This job is not as cool as it's name, all I did was hang around the bump house and respond to the occasional sledder falling because hardly anyone cross country ski's). I don't get it. Apparently the really fun, physical, challenging jobs are hard as hell to get and you have to go through years of training for them, like Fire Search and Rescue or SWAT team or all those damn professions that get specials on National Geographic as cool jobs. Jeez, I wish the real world were like the National Geographic specials because I'm seriously starting to think that those jobs are just made up by Hollywood to sell documentaries. Jobs I have considered doing and might like: Camera Operator (film/TV) Construction/Carpentry (Not management, the actual work construction) Working with animals (anything that doesn't require a degree?) Ranch hand Art-related field (I can draw anything as long as I'm looking at it but not by memory, but it seems everything art-related needs a degree too) High-rise window cleaning (I'd really like to get into this but don't know how) Bartender (dunno if I could do this because I'm not very social but I might be able to be a barback or something). Fishing Boat hand (again, no idea how to get into the field) Dockworker (no idea how to get involved) Oil Driller (no clue) I don't know. I just really want to be at a job I love. Is anyone involved in a non-sedentary job they love and if so how can I get in on it? more

i have a 92 Isuzu rodeo. the engine will turn over but will not fire unless i dump fuel manually down the throttle body and then turn it over. i have jumped the fuel pump and it runs. the ground is good to the pump, the second wire off of the pump has continuity to the relays(there are 2 fuel pump relays). there is a good ground at the relay sources and power as well. i have tried replacing the relays with the other ones in the fuse box and i have bought a new one with out any luck. the fuse is ok. i am so stumped on this truck, i would greatly appreciate some help on any ideas on how to get my fuel pump to kick on. more

Hi all. I have a 2001 Pontiac Montana Minivan. It has been doing this for a little while now (few months) but it has gone away and come back but this time it seems so bad that the check engine light came on and was blinking at me. The Check engine light has not never come on until today. Long story short it seems like when I accelerate that it is not firing on all 6 cylinders or it is chugging. sputtering. It does not always stall but always sputters it seems better when cold but as of today it seems really bad like another cylinder is not firing. When it gets to roughly 4000 RPM it seems to jump into life and all cylinders are firing and then it immediately cuts off and stalls. Which is then followed by a HORRIBLE rotten egg smell that fills the passenger side fo the cabin first then fills the rest of the car. I have heard it's the fuel filter not supplying enough fuel. Then it could be the catalytic converter being clogged on full of "junk" which is not getting rid of the exhaust fast enough and is backing up the exhaust and is then of course causing back pressure shutting down the engine. Lastly I have heard of it possibly being the o2 sensor either front side or rear. I just wanted to know if anyone had some feedback b4 i try to drop a TON of cash attempting to fix it. Open Question: need 1974 ford 360 wiring and vacuum diagrams or help?

I am helping our neighbor with his 1974 ford f250 with a 360 engine. He let someone use it 4 or 5 years ago and it came back with a engine fire. All the wiring and vacuum lines are burnt up on it. Now it has a new carburator, plug wires, battery, and the wiring is all replaced but there is a plug that has a blue wire coming from the firewall and a white with black stripe wire coming from what i think is down on the alternator. We are missing a wire on the post on the coil, so I'm thinking one of them goes to it?? Also the vacuum lines are all burnt off and not sure what vacuum lines go to the carburator on the side with the ports. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks alot in advance. The blue wire is factory and comes through the firewall into a plug and the same plug has a white wire with black stripe coming into it from the alternator.The carb is a factory Autolite 2100 rebuild. more

I found a 1966 chevy in line 6 c10 truck that had been sitting about 17 yrs. The truck has 44,000 miles on it. I got it home and put a new Battery in it and tryed to fire the engine but the Starter would not turn over...It just clicked...I put a NEW starter in it and tryed again. same thing...I pulled all the Plus shot a lil WD40 in the Cylinders let it sit a few days then had someone tow me down the street to see if the Cylinders were all free....they turned and pumped oil in the top end...still the started would not turn the crank....I lifted the rear end to see if the clutch was seized but in gear and Out of gear the wheels turn but on the ground the truck rolls with the clutch it and stops when its out.....I cant turn the crank by hand at all Any ideas? more

Ok i was driving my mx6 and my fan stop working, it got hot. then my raditdor mess up cause of that and water was coming out if it. i got a new radiator and fan works, after 3-4 hours of driving i noticed that i loose power and my engine shut at idle. i check it and 2 of my pistons r getting water inside and it wont fire in those 2 pistons. the other 2 r fine. i am thinking my engine head got "craked" or my gasket got bad? any ideas? i don't see oil in the water or water in the oil. so i am guessing is just the gasket. right now i don't have time to fix it till next week but i just want some opinion of what the problem could it be so i will know what i am expecting to fix if anyone had this problem before. more

Having been riding my Harley since 2005, I have had to deal with, maybe once or twice a year, the occasional motorist who seems to either have an extreme disregard for my safety as the expense for them having their lane of choice, or even a few who seem downright intent on messing with me. Luckily I've been able to roll back the throttle and leave these nuisances behind me, but lately had a riced out Mustang that not only thought I needed to be bump-drafted (didn't give him the chance to bump but wasn't gonna risk it either) but he had the capability to keep up with me as I tried to lose him on my way home, on the wide open highways here in Iowa where the only thing slowing me down was my Harley's sprocket ratio, where the engine at 100mph starts literally shaking the bike apart. I've had to upgrade my mirrors to get them to stay where I want them aimed when hitting these RPMs. Luckily, I was able to use two 18 wheelers to bait him into following me into the offramp only lane, and then shift lanes into being in front of the semi's, with the gap I shifted lanes through closed moments after I had taken it, forcing the mustang to exit. The lane-shift in front of the semi's was not dangerously close, but the speeds were too high for my taste. Long story short, I pulled off on the next exit and went into a diner for a nice bathroom break and to let the adrenaline out of my system. After all this, I told this to one of my friends who has been riding since 2002 (although on an R1 for a few, now on a Hayabusa) and said, somewhat jokingly, that "Don't drivers like this make you just want to weld a bracket onto your fork tube to always carry a MAC-10 in there so you at least have some defense?" to which he replied that he actually keeps a cheap 357 revolver up in the cowls of his Hayabusa for just that reason, and even mentioned that he has only "had to fire it once" although he did not elaborate. I would probably say I believe him about 80% probability. Now yes there are legality issues one has to consider. But when a street racing uninsured punk decides risking my life with his car sounds like fun, then it's natural law to say that I have the same right to turn the tables on him in defense of my own life. But the question is not really whether it's justified or not, to carry a pistol for self defense in this situation, the question is just simply, DO people carry for this reason? Even a .22 to pop a radiator would stop a tailgating wanna-be hit-and-run driver, I would think. I like the ball bearings idea. I also have a .68 caliber paintball pistol I could use instead for a less lethal option... a shot to the windshield and most drivers would probably pull over when they couldnt see. Just wanted to let everyone know that Bart S is a Hippie, and has no guns, so feel free to rob and rape this unarmed victim. Myself, I'll keep my country the way I like it, with guns giving me the freedom to protect my life when the decision must be made. I'm not saying that everybody is the best decision maker out there, and perhaps on the road is one of the riskiest times to be making life-or-death decisions, but when others force you into making those decisions, I'd rather have the option to protect my life and to live. Take away the decisions and options, by taking away the guns, well you might as well hook us up to the Matrix and keep us all in padded cells wearing foam helmets to keep us from hurting ourselves. Resolved Question: confederate flag at a 4th of July celebration?

Every year on the 4th of July, my wife and I attend a neighborhood parade held in the River Park area in Sacramento California. The parade consists of mostly kids on tricycles , bikes and wagons, Engine 8 from the neighborhood fire station shows up and there are a few bands along the route. At the end of the parade there is a huge picnic at Glenn Hall park with hot dogs ice cream a huge bounce house and games for the kids. It's a typical Norman Rockwell scene and the entire neighborhood shows up. Last year at the parade there was this white guy, he looked like an average joe, riding his bike in the parade with his wife and little daughter with, of all things, a confederate flag flapping on the back of his bicycle. I was shocked and more than a little offended. After all here we are celebrating America's birthday along with it's many freedoms and he chooses to wave a flag that symbolizes slavery and divisiveness. I was going to confront the guy but my wife insisted i not make a scene, but the more I thought about it the more it made me angry. My question: If this A hole shows up this year waving his confederate flag should I confront him or just ignore his ignorance? P.S. Please do not lecture me on the importance of "freedom of speech"! more

I was quoted £318 for fully Comprehensive last year, I have never claimed, no convictions, no points on my licence, accident free for 20yrs. Yet I am now been quoted £418. I understand that my premium could go up but by over £100 in one jump, how can they justify this... No wonder people are driving without Car Insurance, it,s a complete rip of. One company Compare the Market. com was quoting me £1,300 for third party fire and theft. And the most annoying thing of all is all the advertisments on T.V. are false and misleading, take for example confused.com they sure live up to their name!!. They show insurance quotes with £220 upwards to £280 on the T.V screen and when you ring them or contact them on the search engine they are in the £450 upwards range, surely this is false advertising... Is there anything that can be done about this???? more

Okay, This is a long dream so that you know. Most every I tell about it says its like a couple of dreams stacked on one...oh well here goes. In my dream is was a dark rainy day in New York City. I was in a broken down dentist office with a secretary and office. The secetary called my name so I went in there was another chubby boy my age and he cussed and seemed like a bad kid... the dentist told him to stop eating sweets and the kid spit in his mouth. He checked me and told me I was fine (I eat a lot of vegetables in real life) Anyways I left the dentist and woke up in a empty classroom of my school. except I looked back and saw a girl I knew from real life and a black haired boy that I didnt notice. Anyways the girl was what used to be my crush from school. They were making out and they didnt seem to notice me watching...I walked home from the school and my aunt was there she is 19 years old, and my dentist was there with the chubby kid form the office. Before my aunt could say anything. Sirens went off (not like fire engine sirens, like theget ready for nuke sirens) and they were evacuating te city to a place they called the new world. So we were all riding in a car on a highway bridge it was still raining and the bridge collapsed! We feel into a lake or river or some type of body of water. Everything went black...I woke up to a bright light where me my aunt the chubby kid th dentist were all walking on a moving path sidewalk...they told me we were almost to the new world. But on te oter side of te moving path that was going to a differnt direction was the black hair kid from the school running down it... he didnt hear me when i screamed to him. I saw the girl i was crushing way behind him nd she was walking....I asked why are you going the oter way. She didnt hear me... when i barely could see her face She turned and looked at me. and seem surprised to see me. OK. So this computer that I use to go online during the week (luckily it is not my computer cause right now I am wishing for a sledge hammer) has whatever virus that keeps switching the address bar's search engine to being some freecause piece of carpfish website that is useless and I hope someone deletes and all its employees get fired and sued. So I did the "about:config" thing, went to keyword:url and changed it to "http://www.google.com/search?q=" well that worked till I reset my firefox. OK, so I check out the whole of about:config and find an entry that went something like "freecause:key" and there seems to be no way to delete it. So now what folks? write basically, my class had to write a story about a made up journey. it has to be inbetween 500-600 words. how do you think mine is out of /10 if any mistakes please correct thanx It was one of the most sweltering days I have ever experienced in my life. Wiping the sweat off my forehead, I imbibed some water trying to rehydrate myself. Today was a great day for me personally. We were going on holiday to the USA, arguably one of the most developed and attractive countries on earth. It took us approximately thirty minutes to enter the plane, due to some imperative processes, in order to discover if we had any treacherous items on us. My father got stopped and searched by the customs for a long time as; they thought he had something dangerous on him. It was unconceivable for me as I knew my father would never carry something which could harm anyone. Finally, after a few strenuous minutes, he was cleared and had permission to enter the plane. As we were heading for the tunnel, I was looking at the planes as they commenced firing up their engines, in order to take-off. “Excuse me, could you please help me put on my seat-belt?” I asked the stewardess who was wearing a blue uniform. She stopped for a second and looked bemused. “Ermm... yeah, sure” she stuttered seeming to think I was delirious. As she bent down, she dropped a piece of paper, almost looking like a note. I was about to inform her about it, before she quickly turned around, and walked on. I was sitting in the corner of the plane, gazing at the minuscule cars rushing through the entrance of the airport. I was sitting away from my family who were near the middle, as if I was isolated, regarding the fact that I wanted a seat next to the window. “Ladies and gentlemen”, announced the pilot who had jurisdiction over the flight. “We are about to ascend in a few minutes. Please brace yourselves, put on your seatbelts and enjoy the journey”. I put my feet up on the empty fabric seat next to me, and started examining the plane. There were blue seats surrounding me, as if I was floating on the ocean with nothing enclosing me except the blue, crystal water. I was absorbing the rich smell of the crisp, crunchy carpet which reminded me of when I entered the pharmacy, and abruptly got stimulated by the strong smell of the medicines. People started to get irritated by the heat adhering their bodies, which made the whole plane stink of sweat. “Right, we have ensured everything is alright and will take off in 30 seconds. i have a 1994 chevy 1500 V8. it has not ran in over 3 years. i just put a new fuel pump on it because there was no fuel flow to the injectors. well i solved that problem just to run into another. when i crank the engine fuel sprays out and onto the engine... and the engine will not fire up for more than a split second i think because it is flooding out... are my injectors bad or is it something else. dont have much money to keep buying random parts....please someone help. also. could be a missing part....im not sure.. more

i have a 2003 mustang gt convertible. it will usually start the first time when its(the engine) cold. but occasionally i will turn the key, the engine will turn and fire but then will die. i then attempt to start it again and every time it starts perfectly. this happens much more frequently(about 80-90% of the time) when the engine is warm. have an 87' audi 5000 cs quattro. car won't start. the car has sat in the garage for about 4-5 yrs. and my son kept playing the stereo without car on and drained battery to nothing. Filled battery with water and charged again and battery works again. HOWEVER, when i went to go start the car it no longer starts up. engine turns, but no fuel getting to engine. already drained all the bad fuel, even replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter and yet it still doesn't start. Even got a new distributor to make sure there was spark. also just replaced the fuel pressure regulator but car still won't start!! where do i go now? how do i start the car? the car is really trying to start but it just won't. The car fires on ether but doesn't stay on. what do i do??? more

(Disclaimer: I am familiar mostly with Fords) Bought a 40,000 mile, used 350 CFI for a '92 Silverado PU. Removed the intake, heads and pan and the engine really looked clean. Reassembled it and primed the pump with a drill - 40 psi and oil to the top of the rockers - installed it and fired it up after installation. Road test: Very bad oil pressure once warmed up - (w/ wet guage) less than 5 psi hot idle in gear, 10-15 psi cruise, 20 psi when accelerated. I used 10w-40 Castrol GTX. Hot ide in gear produces an intermittant but noticeable bottom end knock - I suspect a main bearing - same for 2-3 seconds on initial start up. (No noises under load which is strange to me if it's a main bearing - but then again, this is when it shows 20 psi oil pressure) My question: Is there something I'm missing here or is that simply a sign of large clearances? Would you recommend pulling the pan and checking the clearances - it's a 4x4 and looks like a pretty good task if it's even possible without pulling the engine. Thanks. more

I was recently working on my lawnmower engine, because only one cylinder was firing. I pulled the plug to wire to see which cylinder it was and when I put it back on I got zapped. The boot was 2 piece and was separated a bit. the shock was not one big shock but a steady buzzing in my fingers, so it took me a second to realize what was going on and let go. My fingers where also tingling a bit. I was just wondering If anyone could tell me a bit about any possible danger. I have been told that even though the volts can reach 25,000 in the high tension lead that the amps are very low so it is not so dangerous. Synopsis- Kendall Rose Harlot is not known for her patient manner but she was known as Bobby 'Ice' Harlots daughter. Ice is known as The Black Crows, an outlaw motorcycle gang, president. Kendall Rose left her small town in Maine along with the reputation that it carried shortly after her mothers gang related death five years ago for college in New York City. When her quick temper and bad timing get her in trouble with the wrong people she has no where to go but home. When she returns home she realizes that nothing has changed including the chemistry with Rocky, her childhood best friend. When her NYC trouble catches up to her the life she has been running from for years might be the only thing that can save her... Chapter One- Her mother was right in front of her, her face was filled with such life, and the way she smiled her entire face was glowing. Her only daughter had just graduated high school. All the sudden she saw the face that had been haunting her for years, the smug grin full of pride and not an ounce of remorse on his face. It was ice cold, troubling in so many ways. The noise of the gun sent a wave of unbearable pain to her head. Her mother then collapsed onto the floor struggling for each breath. Blood spilled around the two of them. Resolved Question: I just changed my spark plugs in my 2004 Dodge Durango and now it dies when I stop. HELP!?

I have a 2004 Dodge Durango 4.7L V8. She has 89,000 miles on her. I just recently changed the sparkplugs on her and put the Bosch Platinum Plus ones in her. I gapped them at .040. The old spark plugs were the stock ones and they were old, rusty and had big gaps like .060-.065. She used to have idle problems (like idling high in the morning and after 15 minuites idled fine) but she never died. Now, when I stop, she idles at about 400 and if I don't press the gas within a few moments she will die. Anyone have an idea what is wrong. A mechanic told me that the coils over the spark plugs need a couple days to reset because they are used to sparking the old, beaten ones. Also, when I first fired her up, she kept dying and the check engine light was on, but my mechanic put his machine on her and I unplugged the intake sensor when I changed the spark plugs so all he did was reset the computer and now it stopped dying when I first start it. Anyone have an idea of what could be wrong or is my mechanic right and I have to wait a few days? more

Open Question: Looking for more Dodge Ram help. lol?

Alright, so I've posted my truck here a few times, and gotten a push in the right direction. But I seem to have hit the final barrier that I cant get past. Kinda tired of throwing parts at it, though be them needed in normal wear and tear, I'd quite like to take this truck for a real drive. I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 Gas Sport. When I got it wouldn't even start, crank, anything. So new batter, battery terminals, fuel pump, fuel tank, head gaskets, plenum gasket, coolant temp sensor, coolant flush, oil flush, plugs, and plug wires (haven’t got to the cap and rotor yet, all wires are where they should be), and some tuning and cleaning (Throttle plate, throttle body, IAC, etc). Ran injector cleaner through the intake, and seafoam in the tank. Compression test all checked out aside from one low cylinder, nothing substantial enough to make it do what its doing. I finally got it to start, and idle. And idle it does. Idles at a nice 900 RPM, sounds good, throttles up and everything. No back firing, no smoke. Hesitates a little when you feather the pedal, but nothing too bad. Well I cant drive it. I put it into gear and try and drive around the block, and it so sluggish, wont go over 1500 RPM if that. Cant even make it to 10 MPH even with the pedal all the way to the floor. So cleaned the MAP, nothing. Removed the cat, still nothing. Checked the timing with a timing light, right about at spec. I'm at a loss for what to do. I jacked up the back so the tires where off the ground, and put it into gear and it “drove” like it should. But put it back on the ground and its back to no power. No codes being thrown. Is there a sensor I'm missing? Something simple I've over looked? Dont know if this would help, but when I unplug the vacuum hose from the brake booster it idles alot better, when I plug it back in it idles real low, then comes back up to 900 RPM. Does anyone have any idea? Or any suggestions? Had this problem before? Possible transmission problem not engine? Torque converter? Please before anyone says take it to the dealer/mechanic. I cant afford $95/hour. Yes thats the going hourly rate in Alaska. I’m pretty good with a wrench, been doing it my whole life. But this is just confusing me. Yes I drove it without the cat, and still no power/RPM increase. And I used a timing light. Dont know how else to explain it. Its made to test timing at idle. Thats what it did. Hahahaha. How do test the throttle position sensor? Does the scanner to test the timing connect where the trouble code reader would? Which temp sensor should I be looking for? Bad thermostat? Intake sensor? more

I get the engine and the ladder calls but who would be dispatched on the battalion? Resolved Question: How do I bring up probation and military enlistment with my judge when I go to court?

I recently was arrested for a DUI (asleep with keys in the ignition and engine running) I have just graduated a 2 year internship with the fire department. This DUI will prevent me from getting a job in the fire service for the next 5 years. I weighed my options and decided that military firefighting was the route to take for the next 4 years. The problem is if the judge puts me on probation, I cannot enlist in the military. I've heard that if the judge decides not to give me probation due to the fact that I want to enlist, the military still will not accept me. My world is litterally falling apart because of this stupid mistake I made! Is there any way to convince the judge to drop the probation sentence with out directly stating it for military purposes? I apologize for the lengthy question, and greatly appreciate any advise you can provide. more

I really don't give a sh!t if mods are illegal.. because if they are its some petty bullsh!t so long as they are free.. if they start making a profit off them then i could see the problem.. ive heard that a lot of company's. I want some mods for SPORE Specifically i want a mod that lets you toggle symmetrical and asymmetrical.. For Oblivion I want a mod that makes the game more then just a pretty walk through the Meadows.. you know one that actually adds monsters to fight and fun stuff like that.. Seriously i don't know why they didn't put any enemies in the game and the few that they did are so weak they aren't even a challenge.. I would also like one that turns off friendly fire.. I lost several mission because i killed people i was supposed to protect or escort. because they are stupid and get in the way.. and are also weak as hell and usually die with one hit..
