Voting Question: Am I just.....................................?
Hedging my bets. I saw the way the hedge was laid. The partly broken limbs to bend and criss-cross through its neighbour’s trunk. A living wall to mark field’s end. This horizontal basketry, frame of the farmers precious land. Another genus pummelled prone, its skyward reach, curtailed by man. But still at least you flower and grow, though twisted, there’s no doubt of that. The fox-gloves, ferns and fauna see in you a welcoming habitat. moreResolved Question: 6/7 years ago I had fixed braces put on my top & lower teeth to correct protruding top front teeth, I also had?
..a 7 hour operation to pull both plates of my jaw forward as the teeth on my bottom jaw were pushing my top front teeth forward and I was told my top teeth would end up being almost horizontal! (the operation was supposed to be 5 hours but there were 'complications' so it was 7). I had initially had to wait 5 years to have the fixed braces on the NHS because of an administration error! (My dentist kept saying, 'Keep waiting, be patient, if I hassle them they might say you're being unrealistic and strike you off the list'. Then he died-probably of old age as he was ancient - and my new dentist phoned the hospital for me & discovered that they had no record of my referral, so I had to then be put on the waiting list for real and wait even longer!) After my jaw operation I was worried the lower jaw hadn't been pulled forward enough but my surgeon said 'Don't worry your teeth will never move now'. My braces were taken off & I was given a thin, brittle plastic mould of my teeth to wear at night. I asked for the usual retainer where you have a metal bar across your teeth 24 hours a day but they said they don't do those anymore. I was told to wear the plastic every night for a year. I decided to wear it for longer because I wanted to keep my perferct teeth and was paranoid! But after a year & 1/2 of wearing it at night, it snapped, (my teeth had been moving against it and caused it to crack I guess). I was working in Thailand at the time so I couldn't go back to my hospital in England to get a new one & thought, 'Well I've worn it every night for longer than they told me to, so it should be ok.' When I did go back, 6months later, my 2 front teeth were protruding. I asked if there was a brace they could put on that would tighten them back again and was told there was nothing they could do. 9 months later I went back again as they'd been moving even more. I saw a different orthodontist who said that a) I must have misheard my surgeon saying that my teeth will never move because they never say that, b) I must have misheard the person who gave me the retainer because I was supposed to wear it every day for the rest of my life not just for a year! (If that was true, why are they made out of such thin brittle plastic?) and c) the only thing they can do is to put fixed retainers on my teeth again for 3 years. She said that I should think about it and write a letter to say whether I wanted to commit to that or not. I wrote to her to ask if I could have them but that I was going to Australia in a year on a year's working-holiday visa because I had missed out on doing this with friends when I was waiting for my first lot of braces and I was now at the cut-off age for eligibility for working visas. I asked if I could I have them put on when I returned. She never replied and when I phoned, her secretary said that she would phone me back but she didn't. Now I'm back from Oz, I'm 33 and I look goofy! They've moved even more and I hate it, it's uncomfortable, I can't smile naturally - have to think about it first and rearrange my face so that I'm not looking too much like a rabbit when I finally do it. It's awful. I don't know if my old hospital will put fixed braces on my teeth again and really don't want to go through having them again as a) we would like to emigrate but have to do it in the next 2 years because of my boyfriend's age and b) feel that the NHS have acted like charlatons. I've found that if I go private I can wear invisiline braces for a year and 1/2 at the most and they'll move my teeth back, but they'll cost me more than £2,000. The hospital told me that putting those old-fashioned metal fixed braces on my teeth will cost the NHS £5,000! (If this is correct, somebody in the NHS is making a profit out of it if it's cheaper privately!) Should I make a complaint to the NHS for how they've been and the fact that I don't feel I've been given the correct treatment? moreResolved Question: Horizontal red, long lines on back of body?
I know someone who's 15 yrs old and has deep horizontal lines across the upper and continuing down to the mid section of his back. It seems they literally just appeared over night perhaps when he was 11 or 12 ish. He doesn't like them as every time he takes his top off and someone notices them they are usually very shocked although they are not painful to him. I was shocked myself when I first saw them as I've not seen or heard anything like it before. The Gp said it was stretch marks from him growing quickly (he's tall) but I don't think that sounds right. I have lost alot of faith in Gp's though as I have seen some really bad ones over the last several years. I was wondering if anyone else has heard or seen anything like this before? From memory they could be about 14 inchs across his back poss 1cm thick, and poss about about an inch or 2 apart and I think there is about 5 or 6 of them. They are reddish in colour but seem so uniform and are quite an indent! He would like to get them removed or covered up or something but I don't know if thats going to be possible although inquiries are going to be made. Please help if anyone has heard of similar before. moreResolved Question: Do all Australian babyshops stock bigger nappies ? I was in Melbourne last March?
Apart from the Drynites, the sore we went to also stocked larger terry nappies sold in a dozen (30 by 30 inches). The packets seemed babyish the ages 5-7 and a horizontal line of water drops as the wetness/absorbency indicator. I also remember reading 'Supreme nappy terry towelling- keeping your child dry and comfortable at night ', i can't remeber the branding. What's more is that I saw someone picking a packet up onto their trolley ! Has anyone spotted these, never seen these sold in Britain ? moreResolved Question: Sony KDL40W2000 - Green Horizontal Lines on dark movies?
Hi there. I have a Sony Bravia KDL40W2000. We are playing movies on it through HDMI and through a sony upscaling DVD player. For some reason, some films will have slightly visible green horizontal lines accross the whole screen, evenly placed apart, and that do not move, but are there all the time, most noticable on dark parts of the film. Other films look fine, is it a problem with the TV or are there some DVDs that cause this effect? Anyone know how to stop it happening as it is annoying me now i've noticed it! One film I saw it doing it on recently on DVD was "The Cave" don't know if that helps! Thanks for any help you can give me, I tried the net but couldnt find anything specific. Cheers! moreResolved Question: Strange fly in my garden?
I saw a very large fly in my garden today (UK) it was literally twice the size of an ordinary house fly and had horizontal black and white stripes on it. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a flesh fly because it was incredibly large and perfectly formed. It actually looked like a toy fly with perfectly triangular wings. Can anyone tell me what it was? I might have to contradict myself a bit (nothing unusual for me - always arguing with myself), but looking at pictures of the flesh fly I'm beginning to think it might be that, but it was so huuuggge! moreResolved Question: Did you watch the fight on T4 today?
I only managed to catch the bit when Steve Jones was talking to a little boy, then some guy came into shot and started having a go at him.... Then the little boy, bless him, stood up on the sofa and started shouting "Fight, fight, fight", lol, it was hillarious. The guy pushed Steve and walks away... A runner helps a now horizontal Steve who's now fallen over somewhere behind the set. Miquita just sits there traumatized. She even looks at the camera and says something like "I'm not sure what just happened, ermm, here's Hollyoaks"... I'm sure it was staged, but I think not EVERYONE was tols, from both cast and crew. If anyone saw this, what happened next? I went out and didn't see their reactions afterwards. P.S. Who was the boy? moreResolved Question: I saw a sea snake snorkelling in thailand - black and white horizontal stripes. can anyone identify it?
(was i right to swim away quickly?) moreResolved Question: Could I be pregnant?
I did a test, waited 3 minutes, got a negative and chucked the test in the bathroom bin. I emptied the bin the following night and instead of the single horizontal line which meant it was negative, I saw a horizontal line and a faint vertical line. Could this mean i am only just pregnant (I did do the test too early but I just couldnt wait!!!) or do you think the line appeared cos it was thrown in the bin? To wetdreamd - I am only asking a question, no need to be nasty about it. I'm not dumb thanks very much. moreResolved Question: i saw a horizontal 'S' shaped cd storage rack somewhere, but not sure where, any ideas?
